WebSphere Edge Appliance XE82 consolidates application delivery and security function into a purposed, network resident, application-fluent appliance for customers
The XE82 provides traffic consolidation, monitoring, management, and acceleration for web application delivery in a single device that can improve business performance by reducing downtime and reducing security risk.
- Automatically balances incoming connections across multiple appliances yielding scalability by adding appliances as workloads grow
- Provides fundamental capabilities to act as a proxy for web applications such as authentication, authorization and auditing (AAA), accelerated encryption/decryption for security offload, content-based routing, session management and many more application delivery functions
- Acts as an appliance-based proxy gateway for web application delivery
- Serves as an integrated edge-of-network control proxy for use with WebSphere Application Accelerator for Hybrid Networks
- Functions as an integrated edge-of-network traffic gateway for use with WebSphere Application Accelerator for Public Networks
- Operates as an appliance-based proxy gateway for external application access to Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud-based applications
- Provides Application Optimization and built-in Tivoli Access Manager support
- Distribute connections to backend application servers based on their system usage and response time through Intelligent Load Distribution (ILD), an advanced feature allows new application versions to be rolled into production slowly while quiescing open connections via application version based routing . New versions can also be rolled back providing an application version testing and management system.
- Delivers flexible subscription support for service metadata stored in external repositories such as Service Registry and Repository (WSRR)
