Facilitates web interoperability	Enterprise PL/I for z/OS allows existing PL/I transactions to process inbound and outbound XML data directly within the applications.	XML parsing and generation support affords PL/I applications to communicate with web technologies like Web Services and Java.
Extensive Middleware Support	With the integrated SQL and CICS preprocessors, Enterprise PL/I for z/OS allows efficient application design for working in a CICS environment or interacting with DB2.	Enterprise PL/I for z/OS is designed to leverage IBM middleware with built-in support for CICS and DB2.
UTF support	Enterprise PL/I includes: a native UTF-16 string datatype for which all of the PL/I string handling functions (substr, index, search, etc) are available a series of built-in functions to support processing of UTF-8 and UTF-32 as well	This UTF support allows you to handle data generated in any code page. Enterprise PL/I for z/OS utilizes hardware instructions to provide this support and maintain good performance.
Debugging capabilities	Enterprise PL/I supports Debug Tools for z/OS. IBM Debug Tool for z/OS enables you to examine, monitor, and control the execution of C, C++, COBOL, and PL/I programs.	Debug Tool is an interactive source-level debugging tool for compiled applications in a variety of environments.
Language support	Enterprise PL/I for z/OS continues to provide on going enhancements while maintaining compatibility with previous versions	Enterprise PL/I for z/OS continues to be a strategic language on the z/OS with on going investments to improve developer productivity and maximize hardware investments.
Integration with IBM Rational Developer for System z and IBM Rational Team Concert	IBM Rational Developer for System z is the premier integrated development environment for application development and maintenance targeting System z. IBM Rational Team Concert is the Jazz-based application lifecycle management software to improve team collaboration on System z.	Integration with Rational Developer for System z and Rational Team Concert affords developers on z/OS Systems access to integrated development tools as well as team collaboration tools.
