Features and benefits

WebSphere MQ Advanced Message Security performs the following functions:

  • Secures sensitive or high-value transactions processed by IBM WebSphere MQ.
  • Detects and removes rogue or unauthorized messages before they are processed by a receiving application.
  • Verifies that messages were not modified while in transit from queue to queue.
  • Protects the data not only as it flows across the network but also when it is at rest, eg. put on to a queue.
  • Secures existing proprietary and customer-written applications for IBM WebSphere MQ.

  • IBM WebSphere MQ, Version 7.0.1 support:
    • Independence from IBM Tivoli software stack
    • New JMQI interception (JMS and WebSphere MQ base Java classes)
      Note:WebSphere MQ Advanced Message Security does not support publish/subscribe domain in JMS, C or Java.
    • JMS 1.1 support
    • Asynchronous consumer
    • Message properties (only supported on distributed operating systems)
  • Administrative interface:
    • Command-line tools for enabling and disabling interceptors.
    • Command-line tools for defining and assigning policies to queues.
    • WebSphere MQ Explorer plug-in for defining and assigning policies to queues (the Explorer plug-in cannot be used to administer policies on a queue manager running on MQ under the z/OS operating system).
