Features and benefits

WebSphere MQ Advanced Message Security performs the following functions:

Secures sensitive or high-value transactions processed by IBM WebSphere MQ.
Detects and removes rogue or unauthorized messages before they are processed by a receiving application.
Verifies that messages were not modified while in transit from queue to queue.
Protects the data not only as it flows across the network but also when it is at rest, eg. put on to a queue.
Secures existing proprietary and customer-written applications for IBM WebSphere MQ.

IBM WebSphere MQ, Version 7.0.1 support:
- Independence from IBM Tivoli software stack
- New JMQI interception (JMS and WebSphere MQ base Java classes)
  Note:WebSphere MQ Advanced Message Security does not support publish/subscribe domain in JMS, C or Java.
- JMS 1.1 support
- Asynchronous consumer
- Message properties (only supported on distributed operating systems)
Administrative interface:
- Command-line tools for enabling and disabling interceptors.
- Command-line tools for defining and assigning policies to queues.
- WebSphere MQ Explorer plug-in for defining and assigning policies to queues (the Explorer plug-in cannot be used to administer policies on a queue manager running on MQ under the z/OS operating system).
