System Requirements

System requirements

Mandatory and optional software requirements vary according to your operating system and other installed software. See the Program Directory for details.

Version 5.1

Operating System Software Hardware
AIX Runtime requirements:

AIX, V5.2 or V5.3

If you plan to scan distributed assets or deploy WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer Web applications on AIX, you must have the following installed on AIX:

WebSphere Application Server (one of the following):
• WebSphere Application Server, V5.1, V6.0.2.15, or V6.1

• WebSphere Application Server Express, V5.1, V6.0.2.15, or V6.1

DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition, V7.02, V8.1, or V9.1

Note: You can use DB2 Connect V7.1 with DB2 Universal Database V8, however, we recommend using DB2 Connect V8, Fixpack 6

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) as supported by WebSphere Application Server (for example JRE, V1.4.2 shipped with WebSphere Application Server, V6.0.1)

Use Microsoft Internet Explorer, 6.0, or later.

Note: WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer takes advantage of Adobe technology to render graphics in SVG format. Currently, the Adobe Web browser plug-in for SVG exists in its most robust form only for Internet Explorer. However, when similar support exists for other Web browsers, the WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer will extend its support to these other browsers.
Any hardware that supports the software requirements
AIX, Windows, z/OS Scanning requirements (only required if you use the technology listed below):

To scan Assembler, you need, High Level Assembler for MVS and VM and VSE, V1.4, or V1.5

For CICS region scanning, you need CICS Transaction Server, V2.2, V2.3, or V3.1

For DB2 Catalog Scanning, you need one of the following:

• DB2 Universal Database for z/OS and OS/390, V7, PTF UQ96293

• DB2 Universal Database for z/OS, V8.0.1, PTF UK00265

• DB2 for z/OS, V9

For IMS database scanning, you need one of the following:

• IMS/ESA Transaction and Database Servers, V6.1

• IMS Database and Transaction Servers for OS/390, V7.1

• IMS Database and Transaction Servers for OS/390 and z/OS, V8.1

• IMS Database and Transaction, V9.1

• IMS Database and Transaction, V10

For IMS database design (DBD) and program specification block (PSB) control block analysis, you need IMS Library Integrity Utilities for z/OS, V1.1

For COBOL scanning with compiler, you need one of the following:

• Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, V3.3, APAR PK38535 (UK22430)

• Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, V3.4, APAR PK38535 (UK22431)

For PL/I scanning with compiler, you need one of the following:

• Enterprise PL/I for z/OS, V3.3, PTF UK06462

• Enterprise PL/I for z/OS, V3.4

• Enterprise PL/I for z/OS, V3.5

• Enterprise PL/I for z/OS, V3.6

For scanning from IBM Rational ClearCase, you need IBM Rational ClearCase 2003

For scanning from PVCS (Windows only), you need PVCS, V6.8.0.0

For scanning from CVS, you need CVS client, V1, 11.1.2 (Build 41)

For scanning from Serena ChangeMan ZMF, you need Serena ChangeMan ZMF, V5.3
Any hardware that supports the software requirements
Windows Runtime requirements:

Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1)

If you plan to scan distributed assets or deploy WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer Web applications on Windows, you must have the following installed on Windows:

WebSphere Application Server (one of the following):

• WebSphere Application Server, V5.1, V6.0.2.15, or V6.1

• WebSphere Application Server Express, V5.1, V6.0.2.15, or V6.1

• V6.0.2 (5655-N01)

• V6.1 (5655-N01)

DB2 Universal Database (one of the following):

• DB2 Universal Database for z/OS and OS/390, V7 (Service Level UQ96293) and DB2 Utilities Suite, V7.1

• DB2 Universal Database for z/OS, V8.0.1 (Service Level UK00265) and DB2 Utilities Suite, V8.0.1

• DB2 for z/OS, V9

Note: RUNSTAT in DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS is required for tuning the WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer repository

WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer takes advantage of Adobe technology to render graphics in SVG format. Currently, the Adobe Web browser plug-in for SVG exists in its most robust form only for Internet Explorer. However, when similar support exists for other Web browsers, the WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer will extend its support to these other browsers.

Here are two ways to access WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer programmatically:

* If using Web services, use the WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer Web services API

* If accessing DB2 directly, use any supported DB2 client or other method of issuing SQL commands against the WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer repository in DB2

Note: To determine the version of the utilities that best matches your database version, refer to the DB2 web site:

AIX, Windows Websphere Studio Asset Analyzer Runtime Prerequisites

If scanning distributed assets or deploying the WebSphere Studio Web applications on Windows® or AIX®, you must have the following installed on Windows or AIX:

One of the following:

* WebSphere Application Server Edition V5.1 installed on a server or workstation running AIX 5.1, or later, Windows XP Professional (SP1, or later), Windows 2000, or Windows 2003

* WebSphere Application Server Enterprise Edition V6.0.1, or later (V6.0.x) installed on a server or workstation running AIX 5.1, or later, Windows XP Professional (SP1, or later), Windows 2000, or Windows 2003

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) as supported by WebSphere (for example, JRE 1.4.2 with WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1)

One of the following:

* DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition V7.02 (5648-D42)

* DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition V8.1 (5765-F30), or later

Websphere Studio Asset Analyzer Scanning Prerequisites

If you plan to scan WebSphere applications, any of the following:

* WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition V4.0.3, or later, installed on a server or workstation running Windows XP Professional (SP1, or later), Windows 2000, or Windows 2003

* WebSphere Application Server V5.1, installed on a server or workstation running AIX 5.2, Windows XP Professional (SP1, or later), Windows 2000, or Windows 2003
Any hardware that supports the software requirements
z/OS Websphere Studio Asset Analyzer Runtime Prerequisites

z/OS V1.3 (5694-A01) or later

One of the following:

* DB2® UDB for z/OS and OS/390 V7 (5675-DB2), Service Level UQ96293, or later, and DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS V7.1 (5697-E98)

* DB2 UDB for z/OS V8.1 (5625-DB2), Service Level UK00265, or later, and DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS V8.1 (5655-K61)

Note: RUNSTAT in IBM DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS is required for tuning WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer's repository.

One of the following:

* WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS V5.1 (5655-I35), Service Level UQ96206, or later, installed on the host with WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer

* WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V6.0.1 (5655-N01), Service Level UK05470 or later (V6.0.x), installed on the host with WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer

Websphere Studio Asset Analyzer Scanning Prerequisites

If you plan to scan DB2 catalog information, any of the following:

* DB2 UDB for z/OS and OS/390 V7 (5675-DB2), or later

* DB2 UDB for z/OS V8 (5625-DB2), or later

If you plan to use the IMS support in WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer:

* IMS/ESA Database Manager V5 (5685-012), or later

* IMS/ESA Transaction Manager V5 (5685-013), or later

* One of the following:

-- IMS Library Integrity Utilities for z/OS V1 (5655-I42), or later

-- IMS Library Management Utilities for OS/390 V1 (5655-E04), or later

If you plan to use the CICS support in WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer:

* CICS Transaction Server V1.3 (5655-147), or later, with service level UQ48250

Note: WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer V4.2 works with but does not yet scan the new language syntax in CICS Transaction Server V3.1

If you plan to use the COBOL and/or PLI compiler-based scanning support:

* IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS V3.3 with service level UQ97019 or V3.4 (5655-G53)

* IBM Enterprise PL/I for z/OS V3.3 with service level UK06462 or V3.4 or V3.5 (5655-H31)

Note: WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer V4.2 works with but does not yet scan the new language syntax introduced in Enterprise COBOL V3.4 and Enterprise PL/I V3.4 and V3.5

If you plan to scan Assembler:

* High Level Assembler for MVS and VM and VSE V1.3, or later (5694-234)
Any hardware that supports the software requirements
