WebSphere Remote Server and its IBM Retail Store Server Editions, are a core component of the IBM Retail Industry Framework. The IBM Retail Store Servers Editions are a pre-integrated, pre-tested package of IBM software products designed specifically to support the store of the future.

WebSphere Remote Server Editions integrates diverse systems in the distributed environment, such as existing IBM Point-of-Sale (POS) applications and new POS solutions provided by IBM Business Partners, with the infrastructure to quickly deploy and manage new solutions built around the IBM Retail Store Server Editions. It links each remote node and the enterprise to help customers determine whether they have the right goods and services, in the right location, at the right price, and with the level of service and the unique shopping experience that consumers demand. Also available is the IBM Tivoli Monitoring and Provisioning Add On for IBM Retail Store Server which provides remote functionality to manage and maintain the store infrastructure. For complex store environments, two store enterprise service buses are available: IBM WebSphere Message Broker Retail Store Edition and IBM WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus Retail Store Edition.
