News Facts

  • Demonstrating the superior performance, scalability and value of Oracle’s new SPARC T4 server line, Oracle today announced a range of record-setting and industry-first results on prominent business-critical enterprise workloads and industry-standard benchmarks.
  • Delivering the biggest generational increase in performance in the history of Oracle’s SPARC processors, the new SPARC T4 server line is designed for every tier in the enterprise and is based on the SPARC T4 processor, which features higher clock speeds and a smarter core layout, optimized for both throughput and single-threaded processing.
  • All benchmarks used the newly announced SPARC T4 systems that are available as 1-, 2- and 4-socket servers or as a single socket blade server module and engineered and tuned to excel on Oracle and third party applications, delivering better performance, availability, security and manageability to customers.
  • As highlighted by these outstanding benchmark results, the new systems shine on both mission critical single-threaded and highly concurrent workloads, such as Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Applications.
  • These benchmarks showcase the outstanding performance and scalability of the entire Oracle stack, from applications to disk.

John Fowler, executive vice president, Server, Oracle said: “This range of benchmark results demonstrates the power and innovation built into the new SPARC T-4 servers and provides further proof that Oracle hardware with Oracle Solaris is the best platform for running enterprise applications… Whether customers are running highly threaded Java applications or compute-intensive batch workloads in their production environments, Oracle’s integrated applications-to-disk solutions can deliver the best performance and scalability, bar none.”

  2. Yes the T4 is shipping in large numbers as it fills two important criteria: as a consodiation system for the many customers who have older SPARC V210’s – V890’s and for new Oracle Database customer looking for the most powerfull CPU with a Core Factor of just 0.5.
