Oracle Achieves World Record Two Processor Result with SPECjEnterprise2010 Benchmark

• Oracle has announced that Oracle WebLogic Server, a part of Oracle Fusion Middleware, and the #1 application server, achieved a world record result for a two processor system with the industry-standard SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark(1).
• Oracle WebLogic Server was running on Oracle’s Sun Fire x86 servers, together withOracle Linux and Oracle Database 11g Release 2.
• With 8,310.19 SPECjEnterprise2010 EjOPS (Enterprise Operations Per Second), this benchmark result delivers the highest EjOPS per core and per processor of any result ever published with the SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark.

Benchmark Details

• Oracle’s record-setting configuration delivers 53 percent improvement upon the previous best two processor result and showcases the performance of Sun Fire x86 servers, based on new Intel® Xeon® E5 processors, running Oracle software across multiple tiers(2).
• At the application tier, the compact Sun Fire X4170 M3 server equipped with two new Intel Xeon E5-2690 2.9 GHz processors and running Oracle WebLogic Server with Oracle Linux delivered more than double the performance of IBM’s 2-socket servers based on either x86 or POWER architectures that were running WebSphere Application server software (3).
• At the database tier, Oracle Database 11g Release 2 running on a new 2-socket Sun Fire X4270 M3 server configured with Sun Storage 2540 M2 Arrays outperforms IBM’s DB2 database deployed on either IBM x3850 X5 or PS701 servers (3).
• In addition to this record setting result, Oracle WebLogic Server continues to hold the overall world record (4) and the best dual-node (5) benchmark results with the SPECjEnterprise 2010 benchmark.
