What's new

WebSphere Remote Server V7 delivers two new bundles: IBM Retail Store Server Starter Edition and Retail Store Starter Edition with Informix Dynamic Server V7, these two editions:

• Provide enhancements to the functionality delivered with the former WebSphere Remote Server Starter Edition, with a new name tailored for the retail industry.
• Include the latest versions of IBM WebSphere Application Server (V7), WebSphere MQ (V7), and depending on the bundle selected, either IBM DB2 Workgroup Server Edition (V9.5) or Informix Dynamic Server (V11.5).
• Include a new product, WebSphere sMash, enabling customers and IBM Business Partners to quickly and simply build agile Web-based applications as well as providing lightweight messaging for store applications.
• Provide enhanced tools and documentation for installation and management procedures.
  -Include in every bundle the functionality of systems management accelerators that optimize and automate the installation and configuration of the retail store servers.
• IBM WebSphere Remote Server V6.2 is a leading Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform for remotely managed distributed environments designed specifically to integrate and provide support for store-level devices and applications - past, present, and future. As the core component for Retail Integration Framework, WebSphere Remote Server provides the foundation for innovation in store environments where customer-facing and self-service technologies are in high demand as a way of delivering a differentiated experience for the consumer. WebSphere Remote Server provides a platform to build, assemble, deploy, and manage these next generation solutions supporting industry standards, as well as protecting existing solutions, delivering a true plug-and-play platform leveraging J2EE middleware technologies.
• V6.2 of WebSphere Remote Server provides product release updates, simplified packaging, and enhanced installation and management.
• IBM WebSphere Remote Server:
• Provides a platform to build, assemble, deploy and manage these next generation solutions supporting the latest industry standards, as well as protecting existing solutions, delivering a true plug and play platform leveraging the latest J2EE middleware technologies available.
• Provides a robust middleware platform with a J2EE application server, WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment, integrated with the following:
  - WebSphere MQ for an assured message delivery component
  - DB2 Workgroup Server Edition as a relational database management system
  - WebSphere System Management Accelerators Tivoli Systems management and monitoring (in the standard and advanced editions)
• Serves today's distributed infrastructure needs and positions you for future implementations, such as the rollout of RFID technology and mobile shopping devices
• Offers capabilities with systems management accelerators to help remote installation and management of the distributed infrastructure
• Provides centrally located communication with the remote environments through WebSphere Central Site Server, which combines strategic middleware from WebSphere, DB2, and Tivoli with systems management accelerators

• IBM Retail Store Server Starter Edition V7
  Is a cost-effective, pre-integrated foundation platform for the store. IBM WebSphere Remote Server Starter Edition provides restricted license to IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM WebSphere MQ messaging, IBM DB2 Workgroup Server Edition database capabilities and IBM WebSphere sMash, \The addition of WebSphere sMash to the bundles enables developers to quickly build and execute agile, Web 2.0-based applications that help retailers be more responsive, flexible, and cost-effective in a challenging economy/ In IBM Retail Store Server Starter Edition WebSphere and DB2 are restricted to the same level of feature capability that is independently offered by WebSphere Application Server Express and DB2 Express. The IBM WebSphere Remote Server Starter Edition is restricted for use on machines with no more than two processor cores. IBM WebSphere Remote Server Starter Edition also restricts the processor and memory usage of DB2.
• IBM Retail Store Server Starter Edition with Informix Dynamic Server V7
  This edition provides the same functionality as IBM Retail Store Server Starter Edition but replaces the DB2 database with IBM Informix Dynamic Server database.
• IBM WebSphere Remote Server Starter Edition V6.2

• IBM WebSphere Remote Server Standard Edition V6.2
  Offers everything that is included in IBM WebSphere Remote Server Starter Edition and adds six Tivoli products to provide remote management and monitoring. The additional products included are IBM Tivoli Monitoring, IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Databases, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere, IBM Tivoli Omegamon XE for Messaging, IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager for Software and IBM Tivoli Enterprise Console.IBM WebSphere Remote Server Standard Edition is restricted for use on machines with no more than two processor cores and restricts the level of feature capability for WebSphere and DB2 to what is independently offered by WebSphere Application Server Express and DB2 Express. IBM WebSphere Remote Server Standard Edition also restricts the processor and memory usage of DB2.
• IBM WebSphere Remote Server Advanced Edition V6.2
  Is the IBM on demand software infrastructure optimized for store servers. The Advanced Edition features IBM WebSphere Remote Server with full IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment and IBM DB2 Workgroup Server Edition capability, providing a scalable, flexible IT infrastructure for the store. This Edition also includes all of the Tivoli management and monitoring products included in IBM WRSS Edition. The IBM WebSphere Remote Server Advanced Edition is restricted to machines with no more than four processor cores.
• IBM WebSphere Central Site Server V6.2
  Provides strategic middleware offered in the IBM WebSphere Remote Server Editions without the licence restrictions imposed on the distributed outlet offerings. IBM WebSphere Central Site Server provides a large scale application development environment for use in the enterprise data center. In order to meet the more demanding requirements for data and application servers, IBM WebSphere Central Site Server includes full entitlement to IBM DB2 Workgroup Server Edition, IBM WebSphere MQ, and IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment. Systems management accelerators are also included to simplify Central Site installation and management.
